Think Beyond Highlights: Go for Lowlight Hair Coloring

Does you hair not look as lustrous as it used to look before? You need to add on some color to your hair. For a long time, people have been using highlighting for their locks. Highlighting can make your locks look more vibrant and alive, but at times these single tone hair jobs can make your hair look flat.

This is the reason why many people are shifting allegiance to lowlights. And the latest trend is to weave both lowlights and highlights, to achieve both dynamo and depth.

In simple words, highlights are used to brighten and lighten the color of your hair. On the other hand lowlights deepen and darken the hair color. The most common hues for highlights are gold, blonde and chamomile, while lowlights are usually plums, auburn and red tones. To produce a true contrast, two or more colors can be used.

What hair type do lowlights work for?

Any hairstyle can be enhanced by lowlights, as they add warmth and texture to the hair. They work wonders for blondes-for –the-first-time. They are also good for those who want to recover from a dramatic hair dye job. They suit all types of hair colors, types and lengths. For a natural look, it is advised not to go beyond three shades darker or lighter than the root color.

Maintenance for Lowlight Hair Coloring

Lowlights are prone to get dull over time, like highlights. After every wash, use a conditioner with a moisturizing shampoo. Also, do not wash your hair very frequently. Wear a cap or a hat to prevent damage caused by the sun and the wind. Before going for swimming, use a cap or put olive oil and massage your hair.

Your hair-style blues can be cured by lowlights. They are a great way of covering gray hair, changing your look, or they can be used for just fun sake without going over the board with a dramatic change in your hairstyle.
