It is so scary to see your own reflection on your nose, on a hot afternoon, with all your makeup lost to the sun and the forehead seeming smeared with oil. This is because you, like millions others, are cursed to have oily skin. In short, your oil glands sweat it out to make you sweat like anything. Oily skin can affect the full face, but generally the T zone is the worst sufferer. T-zone comprises of forehead, your nose and the chin. Below are given some points which can help you control the oil dripping down your skin!
Gel Cleanser: Using a gel cleanser instead of some cream can be helpful, as creams tend to leave residue on the skin, thereby enhancing the oily and greasy look.
Wash you face, but do not overdo it: Too much washing of face can render the skin dry thereby prompting your oil glands to secrete more oil.
Careful Toning: The toner should not contain alcohol as it makes the skin go dry. Instead, try a toner which has witch hazel or similar soothing ingredients. Use this toner every time you wash your face.
Avoid skipping sunscreen: Regardless of the skin type, everyone needs a sunscreen. So always use a good one.
No to moisturizing makeup: Avoid using foundations which have moisturizer, because they contain oil which you have abundant quantity of!
Blotting paper: When you need to muffle the shine, use a blotting paper which can absorb the oil without ruining your makeup.
These were some of the tips to fight back your oil glands. Other remedies include use of clay based masks, powdered makeup etc. If your skin becomes excessively oily or flaky, consult a dermatologist, because it can be a medical condition like seborrhea or rosacea. These medical conditions are treatable with topical medications.
