How to get rid of Dizziness?

Dizziness is an uncomfortable feeling of spinning in your head that could throw you off balance. Dizziness could be a tell-tale sign for several health problems and situations. Drinking excessive alcohol, being exposed to strong sun for long hours, eating poorly, dehydration, ageing and side effects of certain medications could be some of the causes for dizziness.

Know the symptoms of dizziness  

Dizziness often comes as a package with symptoms such as difficulty in balancing and concentrating, a feeling of that the world around you is going round, nausea, feeling of unsteadiness, fatigue and weakness, blurred vision and light-headedness. Numbness, severe headache, high fever, difficulty in walking, slowed heart rate and problems of vision are the severe consequences of dizziness.  

Dizziness and its causes

Dizziness occurs due to a disruption of the vestibular system, which constitutes of your eyes, your nerves and your ears. These organs collectively make up for a system of sensors for your body that gives it its sense of balance, movement and gravity. When two or all of these signals start malfunctioning, you could end up feeling dizzy.

Vertigo is one of the most common situations of sensory disorder, whereby you face a false sense of spinning and dizziness. Apart from dizziness, Vertigo causes swelling of your inner ear, formation of fluids in the vestibular migraines, acoustic neuroma and neurological problems as well.

Dizziness could also result from low blood pressure, anxiety disorders, joint and muscle problems, artery blockades and breathing distresses.

How to deal with dizziness?

If you feel dizzy, move slowly and take rest in sitting or lying posture. If dizziness is an everyday problem with you, maybe it is a reaction to some drugs you are taking. Consult your doctor about taking alternative medicines or changing your dosage. You could prevent dizziness by eliminating alcohol, caffeine and tobacco from your diet and drinking water adequately.
