The problem with pores
Pores are naturally present all over your skin, whether you can see them or not. Pores are the direct outlet of the sebaceous glands, which produce sebum that coats your skin and protects it from various infections. However, large pores, especially on the face make you look ugly. The pores also become a source of problem when they are clogged and give way to acne.
The large pores have greater sebum retention capacity, which increases the risk of clogging. There is really no way to eliminate or shrink the pores. All you can do is indulge in daily skin care that could reduce the appearance of large pores and keep dirt and oil from getting trapped under the surface of the skin.
Some tips for taking care of pores
Cleansing, moisturizing and exfoliating are the integral parts of any skin care regimen. You should wash your face with lukewarm water two times daily, in the morning and in the evening to get rid of the excess oil, dirt or makeup. Always use a gentle facial cleanser to avoid drying out the skin. Steaming your face with hot water vapors could visibly reduce the pore size.
The cleansing session must be followed by moisturizing. Use an oil free moisturizer to keep the skin supple and discourage overproduction of oil. In order to remove the layers of dead skin cells, you need to apply gentle exfoliating agents for scrubbing your skin once or twice a week. Scrubbing too hard could cause skin irritations and worsen acne.
Medical treatment for problematic pores
If your skin problems refuse to go away despite following the above procedure, you must consult a dermatologist. He might recommend any of the advanced skin treatments like Microdermabrasion, Laser dermabrasion, Chemical peels or Retinoids. All of these help clear up acne and encourage the growth of a new layer of skin.
