How snoring is caused?

Sleep apnea is generally manifest in two forms—upper airway resistance syndrome (UARS) and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Snoring could be a symptom for both these disorders. During your sleep, if your snoring pattern consists of pausing for long gaps between breaths or fighting to catch a breath of air after a fit of loud snoring, you should definitely get diagnosed for sleep apnea.
How to stop snoring?
If you are an overweight person, getting rid of the extra pounds could make a change in your snoring habit. Giving up drinking and smoking can improve the inflow of oxygen in your system and keep the throat muscles tight, thereby reducing the snores. Sleeping on your side could help clear the pathway for breathing, which reduces the tendency to snore.
Snoring could also be taken care of by using external snoring devices like nasal dilator that work by clearing up the blocked nasal passages. Sticking a nose strip to the sides of the nose can keep your nostrils pulled apart, allowing adequate air to get into the nose. If your snoring is due to inflamed sinuses, a non-steroidal nasal spray could be the perfect solution.
