People living in wooden houses or have a lot of items made of wood in their house face a major problem and that is of termites. They are so slow in their destruction that when you realize that they are destroying your house, a major loss would have taken place. They are very tough to identify.
How to Get Rid of Termites:
Identification:
- Check your house for any structural damage. Extra attention should be paid on the areas below doors where the wall meets the foundation.
- Look for small droppings which are tan, black or reddish brown in color.
To get rid of them:
- They survive on moist soil. So keep moist soil away from your house.
- Keep standing water away from your house.
- Maintain a good drainage system so that water does not get logged in or near your house. Repair all the leakage.
- Use a weather sealer. All the wooden items, exposed to moisture, must be sealed.
- Keep all the wooden debris away from your house.
To kill them:
- Liquid termite treatment can be sprayed inside your house to kill them.
- You can place termite baits outside your home which will eventually kill them.
- During construction of wooden structures, borate termite treatment can be applied to it so that termites do not grow on them.
It is always better to take professional help from professional people who work in this field. If you do it yourself, then keep a safe distance from the place where you are going to use the spray. Wear some protective clothes such as gloves to protect yourself from the termites as well as the spray. Keep your surroundings clean so that the termites never grow or the chances of their growth is minimal.
