How to get rid of Toothache?

What are the common causes of toothache?

A toothache could be caused by a numbers of factors that are often directly related to your hygiene and lifestyle. If you are spending sleepless nights due to intense pain in your teeth, it might be because of a cavity in some of your teeth, coupled with infection and inflammation of the gums.

Cavities result from poor dental hygiene due to dyspepsia, eating processed and sugary foods, drinks, candies and flours, not chewing your food properly and improper or irregular brushing and flossing. Other than dental cavity, the other common causes of tooth problems are rooted in developing a cracked, impacted or abscessed tooth.

Tooth diseases giving rise to toothaches

Various jaw problems and gum diseases also contribute to toothaches. Among these, Pyorrhea is the most dreaded one because it leads to acute inflammation of the gum. You can detect Pyorrhea if you notice formation of pockets of decayed material in between your teeth. This disease results from being careless about the general hygiene of your teeth like inadequate brushing.

How to prevent toothaches?

Toothaches can be prevented if you stay away from too many refined wheat flour, polished rice, sugared foods and carbonated drinks. Instead, opting for an alkali rich diet constituting of unpolished rice, green vegetables, fruits and raw milk can help.

These food products contain adequate roughage that counters the causes of toothaches. Chewing your food properly and munching on hard vegetables and whole grains can provide proper exercise for your teeth and keep them healthy.

Ways to cure toothaches

For minor toothaches, taking citrus foods rich in Vitamin C like lemon, oranges and tomatoes provides protection to your teeth. Grapes, garlic and pineapple are natural antidotes to bleeding gums. If the toothache is due to infection, your doctor might prescribe antibiotics to cure it. You could also apply clove oil to reduce pain temporarily.
