How to Get Rid Of Wasps?

Among all the insects that sting, wasps are the most dangerous. They are usually found in attics, porch roofs, shed, eaves of house, etc. Their venom is very dangerous. If found in large number, you should take proper steps to get rid of these insects and their nests! There are basically of 2 types:

1. Social wasp: They sting and make nests near human habitation.
2. Solitary wasp: They lay eggs in other’s nests and are beneficial to us as they kill harmful pests.

So you need to get rid of social wasps.

How to get rid of wasps:

It will be better if you destroy wasps and its nests after sunset and before sunrise as they fly back to their nests during this time. You must be wearing rubber clothes as their sting penetrates cotton or wool. Some tips are:

1. If there is a wasp nest on the trees of your backyard, you can light small fire below it. The wasps will be choked due to the smoke that comes out of the fire. Some will die and others will leave the nest.
2. Sugar and other sweet items attract wasps. So you can make sugar syrup and keep it in a container. The wasps will get attracted to it and their wings will get stuck in the sugar syrup. Eventually they will drown in the syrup.
3. Wasps get attracted to garbage as well. So you should keep your garbage bag or dustbin closed so that they do not get attracted to it and enters your house.

Professional help:

Both hanging wasp nests and underground wasp nests can be got rid off by using petrol or kerosene. Household insecticides never work in this case. You need to follow the instructions given on the pressurized bomb.
